NCPTS is a technically advanced system
that has been designed and built using the latest design, architecture,
and development technologies from Rational, Microsoft, and Oracle.
Specifically, NCPTS has been built from the ground up to provide the
following technical advantages:
Scalability – NCPTS employs a three-tier architecture (presentation,
middle, and data) to ensure a smooth growth path and easy
maintainability. Each tier contains a set of clearly defined services to
eliminate the need to install and maintain software on the desktop and
to insulate the user interface from changes in business logic and the
database.
Flexibility – NCPTS uses the Rational Unified Process (RUP)
object-oriented development methodology to simplify and reduce cost of
product modification and enhancement since the objects can be reused.
This allows NCPTS to support new statutory requirements and business
process improvements quickly and economically.
Interoperability – NCPTS is built on the Microsoft .NET Architecture in
Visual C# to lower the cost of enhancements and ownership. The .NET
environment was created with the primary objective of ensuring
interoperability and supporting integration with the broadest possible
set of technologies. NCPTS uses .NET to provide the ability to work with
your systems and technologies, now and in the future.
Access to Data – NCPTS stores all of its data in industry-standard RDBMS
tables with a published database schema. This allows you to easily
extract and/or report on data using reporting and query tools and staff
you already employ. In addition, NCPTS includes standard application
programming interfaces designed to provide integration and
interoperability capabilities. These interfaces are the basis for our
GIS integration, and can be used by other applications as well.
